About
Charis Brice
"I am a photographer because I am surrounded and fascinated by people. I think it is so strange that we can never really see ourselves.
We can see a reflection of ourselves, but we can never fully encounter ourselves as a separate body.
The way we can most fully know ourselves is through and in the eyes of others.
I love to watch people.
I love to find faces in the moments they have forgotten to edit themselves; I love to take in the nakedness the face is allowed and to click a button when I see eyes connect and souls revealed.
I think that hope is sometimes right before our eyes – we don't need to imagine it, we need to look at it.
We all want to speak and be heard and to be seen; watching and documenting is my way of applauding this desire.
It is always my pleasure and honor to photograph another person.
Every person I photograph changes me; every face shows me something new."
